Cast Your Vote on the Direction of our Development Competition Reward System

公告

Dear our valued community members,

We need your feedback to help us shape the direction of our ongoing Developer Competition.

One of our ongoing goals is to encourage innovation by rewarding developers who submit their blocklets to our store.

Participation can take different forms—packing simple web apps as blocklists to creating booklets that work seamlessly with DID Wallet, DID Connect, and DID Spaces. Some developers have even built AI Agents on the AIGNE Studio or created reusable components in Pages Kit. And for that, we say thank you.

However, to improve the long-term sustainability of our ecosystem, we will be increasingly focused on rewarding builders who create high-quality blocklets that are tightly integrated with the ArcBlock platform.

Therefore, we are asking the community to vote on restructuring our reward mechanism that will now consider both the quantity and quality of the blocklets submitted.

This vote aims to ensure transparency and create a community consensus about where every developer's effort should be concentrated.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our platform

I value quality or quantity. 100 apps can be made, but 1 app can change the world.

I'm all for high quality apps too, but how to tell the difference between high quality apps is hard to automate right now

Composition is a fundamental aspect of the ArcBlock platform. The development of blocklets that are both reusable and composable with existing blocklets will significantly impact long-term success.

What you’ve asked is the real question, and helped me to see that, so thank you! I’ll throw a few ideas out, and see if any stick, or can be implemented.

Activity across the ecosystem can be tracked, so maybe metrics such as user engagement (Unique account logins) ABT volume across the app (how much money is being used and passed through a specific project) token lock-ups for apps that require it, overall download numbers, and maybe a way to vote directly on apps in the blocklet store?

Those are the ones that come off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s better and more integral pin points to track, but I leave it someone smarter to uncover🤣

NFTs minted in accordance with a specific NFT maker could be another one. So basically however many NFTs you’ve been able to sell to other unique wallets, can contribute to user engagement, and in turn be used as a metric of quality🤔

I’m getting a little simple now lol, but it certainly has some merit

True. We have yet to see a real breakthrough app, so it is in some sense a dilemma as to which ones qualify as “high quality“ and those that don’t. Still early to say in most cases.

It's kind of a problem now, there should probably be thousands of mini-games popping up, scripts are ready to go and the team review could crash 😂

目前的困境是下载量很少,基本无法识别质量,所以才有靠数量去获取奖励的问题,是否可以设置个人的最大应用奖励个数上限

长期来看应该有个更完善规范的规章,

比如分为参与奖和成就奖:

100个ABT根据数量进行分配;

Both quantity and quality should be weighted equally in my opinion. The ceiling is limitless for builders with high quality apps in high quantity also. Also, in this way, high quantity and low quality apps are not advantaged, nor are high quality with low quantity apps. It provides the balance and ensures that you make the most rewards based on both qualitative and quantitative effort.

The only issue is, how would the team objectively determine the quality of a blocket at the moment? After a certain point, it can be very subjective. For example, what weighs more in terms of quality: a multi—AI Agent app assistant, a pages kit composable component, a user’s favourite game with 40 levels? And so on…

To further expand on my comment above…

Perhaps the team can assign points per blocklet published to official store, similar to the current bug bounty program. Then at the end count one user’s total points, and based on that allocate the rewards accordingly.

Here is a suggestion point system (having used and built with all those resources before, in my opinion this is a reasonable point allocation based on time/effort ratio per resource. However, it is of course at the team‘s own discretion whether to even implement a similar system to this, or use the same points per resource):

Undoubtedly, everyone appreciates the general principle of quality over quantity, and I, too, concur that both quality and quantity hold significance.

ArcBlock's design significantly encourages and enhances quantity. For instance, users can effortlessly create hundreds or even thousands of "resource blocklets," such as website themes, skins, NFT templates, image resources, and more. We encourage builders to place each item in a separate blocklet rather than consolidating many items into a single large blocklet.

In a similar vein, it is remarkably simple to create countless AI agents using our AIGNE, or to employ Blocklet composability to craft numerous compositions from existing Blocklet components..

The current Blocklet reward pools highlight this issue. CrypThor alone has created hundreds of Blocklets with AIGNE relatively quickly, undoubtedly investing significant effort. Meanwhile, a builder like DID Mail's creator dedicates immense time and writes extensive code, yet submits only one Blocklet. Simply dividing the reward based on quantity would clearly be unjust.

We also observe several blocklets integrating existing open source or free third-party code into Blocklet. This practice is permissible, provided that the license agreements of the open source code allow it. However, compared to original ideas, the time and effort these builders invest are significantly greater. We wish to encourage people to create original ideas and products.

The number of downloads, revenue generated through the blocklets, and user reviews are also important factors. However, at this time, they are not significant metrics to consider. Even in the future, we should not rely solely on these numbers for measurement.

We wish to engage in dialogue with our community to establish equitable and transparent guidelines for distributing rewards to the builders. Our aim is to encourage and recognize all those who have dedicated their efforts to the construction.
