Blocklet Server Troubleshooting Issues
Over the past two months, z1mkucKy2CLhJAMwbEPuJAWJEQHAt7NrdPX and I have been attempting to build a custom application using the ArcBlock platform.
The experience has been extremely difficult and troubling. We have been long standing proponents of ArcBlock, advocating it to be an easy to use environment for any developers in Web3 or beyond. However, that has not be our experience these past two months, which is creating a conflicted sentiment about what we should do.
Below is a general summary of the issues we've faced, along with our attempts to remedy those problems. Thanks in advance for your help and patience in assisting us:
Initial Problem
- Local Blocklet Server v1.17.7 failed to start with error:
eventHub.on is not a function, although previously working - Previously working installation became corrupted/broken, unsure what caused this after working previously
- Occurred on both Debian 13 and on a new KVM Linux Mint installation, to determine if it was environmental
Remediation Attempts
- Dockerization - Migrated to containerized deployment using
arcblock/blocklet-server:1.17.7after different local installation attempts - Permission Issues - Encountered EACCES errors with volume mounts
- Volume Configuration - Attempted volume nouts and various permission fixes (chown, chmod, and local volume mounts)
- Clean Restart - Removed and reinitialized for fresh configurations as needed
Current Status
- Working through container permission issues. Original local
eventHub.on is not a functionerror unresolved. - Self-hosted servers are working, but have not been restarted or stopped/started since this occurred.
