How will Arcblock keep the barrier to entry low?
The reasoning for the requirement to stake ABT in order to publish blocklets makes sense. However, this raises the question "how will you ensure that the barrier to entry for builders remains low?"
It seems like in order to build anything on/for Arcblock, builders will need to ( besides paying running costs (AIGNE, other blocklets..)) buy a volatile asset and stake it in order to publish their blocklets to have a chance at making some money from their work. This seems to increase the barrier to entry massively. The builder could make some unintentional mistakes and lose part of his staked tokens that he bought. Basically getting financially punished for trying something and messing up. But even if the builder doesn't lose the staked tokens it still creates a big barrier to entry? The fact that a dev has to buy volatile tokens in order to be able to build something and having a chance at making some money from it worries me.
What about a builder who's living from pay check to pay check and can't afford to buy the tokens? What about builders from poorer countries who simply can't afford it? It seems like many groups of potential builders are automatically excluded from building on Arcblock. They have to take financial risks (IF they can even afford it) in order to have a chance at making some money by publishing (reusable) blocklets.
I'd expect a project like Arcblock to do everything they can to keep to barrier to entry as low as possible in order to attract as many builders and talents as possible.
Is this correct? Any feedback?

The amount you stake won’t be significant, and before publishing the blocklet to the official arcblock blocklet store (which is invite only currently), you will have to upload it to the arcblock test store (or to your own blocklet store) for the team to test it for you. This ensures that any accidental mistakes from the developer are not penalized
To expand on the above point, blocklets developed and published will soon be rewarded in proof of contribution reward pools, which will have the highest ABT amount out of any reward pools. Also, the more users that are launching/using your blocklet, the higher the rewards also. Developers will definitely benefit from building on the ecosystem.
As a side note, running costs for developing blocklets are free. You can use AIGNE in beta for free then publish your application, or you can use your chosen programming language to develop a blocklet and upload it through blocklet studio. The latter would cost you a small ABT amount, like 0.05-0.1 ABT a day? I’d say that is affordable for most people
As the token price of ABT increases, the team has an AI that keeps the costs low regardless, and proportional to current fiat amount. So if ABT rose to $100, the price will not remain 0.05-0.1 ABT, but even lower to match the current fiat values (which is pennies). The platform has very low costs
Thanks CrypThor! Makes sense. I understand that published blocklets can be rewarded in multiple ways. But that still doesn't change the fact that in order to get that far, it requires a financial investment. In regards to the staked amount not being significant, 'not significant' for 1 person could be 'a lot' for someone else. I'll keep a close eye on the developments and updates in regard to this.
thanks again!
No problem!
The team will ensure that applications/blocklets bringing a positive contribution for the ecosystem will not require a big staking amount of ABT. This mechanism is only in place to weed out bad actors/pirated blocklets, etc
The financial investment you mentioned is your choice really if you want to invest a significant amount in ABT, but to use the Arcblock ecosystem, you do not require much ABT at all, it is affordable for people all over the globe (we are talking pennies daily).
Keep in mind that I am only a user like you to the ecosystem, not part of the ABT team😁 But I started developing here recently so I have a good idea of the process. Any further questions don’t hesitate to ask, and I’m sure the Arcblock team can help you with any more difficult questions
not to be dismissive, but to develop any land requires some amount of investment capital and presents a risk.
that being said, I feel you. my hamstarz projects aims to help in the resolution. The money collected from nft sales, merch sales, and bug collections will all be going towards a fund we call “the wheel”. members of the wheel are going to decide which devs we are going to invest in. this will lower thier cost of entry and expose users of Arcblock to the dev experience
We want to keep the entry barrier low enough, but NOT as low as possible. We always wanted original, creative, reusable, high quality blocklets from our community… that means our barriers are NOT that low at all.
We want the blocklets easy enough to build, but we indeed build a prestigious club for smart builders to join, not something without any barrier.
Staking is the mechanism to ensure the builders are serious and responsible. the amount to get started will be insignificant, and we will have programs to let builders participate and gain more than enough reward to get started.
